The Texas Southern University Cheerleading Squad recently made history by winning a national cheer competition for the first time ever. The team competed against other universities in the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College National Championship and emerged victorious in their division.

The TSU cheerleaders worked hard for months leading up to the competition, practicing countless hours to perfect their routines and stunts. They showed incredible dedication and determination, and their hard work paid off with a spectacular performance on the national stage.

The team's winning routine featured an impressive display of stunts, tumbling, and choreography that wowed both the judges and the audience. Their synchronized jumps, flips, and tosses were executed flawlessly, and their high-energy performance was unforgettable.

The TSU cheerleaders' win is a testament to their talent, teamwork, and hard work. It's also a great example of the incredible spirit and pride that comes with representing your university on a national stage. Their win is an inspiration to everyone at TSU, and it highlights the importance of celebrating our achievements and striving for excellence.

Furthermore, the TSU cheerleaders' win represents another victorious moment for the university, which is a historically black institution located in Houston, Texas. The cheerleaders' victory marks a significant milestone for the university and serves as a reminder of the incredible achievements that can be made through hard work, dedication, and teamwor

HBCU competitors in the NFL combine are looking for strategies to boost attendance at the yearly scouting event. The only players from HBCUs at this week's NFL recruiting combine were Mark Evans II of Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Isaiah Land of Florida A&M, nearly three years after the NFL declared its support for improved diversity policies. Evans said, "I feel like they're making progress, but I feel like it most certainly should be more than two. "There are a number of good players out there, and I think we should be represented more," the player said. The UAPB offensive lineman even made recommendations for HBCU athletes who, in his opinion, ought to have the chance to participate in the NFL combine.

He suggests Southern University linebacker Jordan Lewis, 2023 Legacy Bowl defensive MVP Jason Dumas, and North Carolina Central offensive lineman Robert Mitchell as well as Lewis' college colleague. Inspiring other HBCU football athletes is Land's goal. He said, "I just want to give hope to those guys at the HBCU level, like you know you could make it to this point, so I strive to put my best foot forward every time. "You just have to be steady and have the mindset of the underdog." Evans agreed with the linebacker and pledged to support increasing awareness of HBCUs if selected for an NFL squad.

The Alcorn University Braves' campaign is still going on. The NIT's first round matchup between Alcorn State and North Texas is scheduled. Alcorn State has been chosen to play in the NIT for the second consecutive season, both times during a season in which they claimed the SWAC regular season championship. The Braves had an overall record of 18-13 and a SWAC record of 15-3 at the end of the regular season. Alcorn, the top seed in the SWAC tournament, was defeated by eventual winner Texas Southern in the first round, ending its chances of winning the SWAC title. On Wednesday at 8 p.m., the contest will begin on ESPN+.
The only HBCU to be chosen for the NIT championship was Alcorn State, along with Norfolk State.

As the 16th seed in the Greenville Regional, Norfolk State was given a challenging opponent in the No. 1 overall seed and defending national winner South Carolina. The Spartans were named regular season champions and the top seed entering the MEAC tournament after completing the regular season with a 26-6 overall record and an 11-3 conference record. Then, after wins over South Carolina State, North Carolina, and Howard, they punched their ticket to the NCAAs. As the 16-seed in the Seattle Regional against Sacred Heart in the First Four, Southern, on the other hand, will have to compete to advance to the Round of 64.

Teams and rosters for the 2023 HBCU All-Star Game will be made public during Houston's Final Four weekend.

The contest will be broadcast on CBS and will tip off on Sunday, April 2 in Houston at the Texas Southern campus during Final Four celebrations in the city. As Howard coach Kenneth Blakeney guides "Team Dr. Dick Barnett" against a "Team Willis Reed" team that includes Joirdon Karl Nicholas and John Walker III from Texas Southern, some participants include individuals who will be in the NCAA Tournament. The Dr. Dick Barnett team bears the name of the former Tennessee State standout who later won two NBA championships.

As the First Four gets ready to take off Fairleigh Dickerson University will be facing off with Texas Southern University on Wedsndays March 15th.

This year's winner establishes a fresh play-in competition. "Anytime you can three-peat in anything it's unique, and we're excited for it," TSU's head of athletics Kevin Granger said. There has never been a year like this one. We struggled with illnesses the entire season in this challenging year. Fortunately, the teaching staff and the players remained committed and inspired. If everyone remained healthy, we always thought we could beat any team in the conference, and our predictions came true.
